ASCITES
Abdominal swelling caused by accumulation of fluid, most often related to liver disease.
The most common cause of ascites is cirrhosis of the liver. Drinking too much alcohol is one of the most common causes of cirrhosis of the liver. Different types of cancer can also cause this condition.
Investigation:- CBC,LFT,RFT,URINE TEST ,USG ABDOMEN AND PELVIS , CT ABDOMEN,
Treatment:-
-HIGH PROTEIN DIET
-SALT FREE DIET WITH FLUID RESTRICTION
-STOP Alcohol completely
Diuretics:-
-Tab.Aldactone 100 mg once daily
Tab.Lasix 40 mg once daily
-SYP.POTKLOR 2tsp if K+ less
For cirrhosis:-
Tab.ESSENTIALE 2tab thrice daily
Tab.SILYBON 140 mg thrice daily
Syp.SORBITOL 1tsp. Thrice daily
Tab.Liv 52 2tab thrice daily
-IV HUMAN ALBUMIN 20% -50ml daily for 3 days if serum Albumin is below 2gm%.
